Southland Gas Prices Continue to Drop

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped today for the 10th consecutive day, decreasing 1.2 cents to $3.821.

The average price has dropped 5.6 cents over the past 10 days, including nine-tenths of a cent on Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 4.7 cents less than one week ago and one-tenth of a cent lower than one month ago but 65.8 cents more than one year ago. It has risen 67.1 cents since the start of the year.

The Orange County average price dropped for the ninth consecutive day today, decreasing 1.3 cents Friday to $3.765. It has decreased 5.8 cents over the past nine days, including seven-tenths of a cent Thursday.

The Orange County average price is 5.1 cents less than one week ago and 1.6 cents lower than one month ago but 61.6 cents higher than one year ago. It has risen 64.9 cents since the start of the year.

“Wholesale gasoline prices have continued plunging for the second straight week and are now at their lowest level since mid-February, which should continue to push down prices at the pump,” said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.

“Worldwide oil prices continue to drop, and as more local gas stations take delivery of winter-blend fuel, they will be paying at least 12 cents a gallon less for that gasoline.”
