RIVERSIDE (CNS) - A man who groped women at a Corona park and outside a shopping center was sentenced today to six months in jail and three years probation.
Riverside County Superior Court Judge Larrie Brainard also ordered Evan David Dorsey to register with the state as a convicted sex offender, limiting where the 27-year-old Temescal Valley resident can work and with whom he can have contact.
Brainard further granted criminal protective orders for the three victims, identified by their initials -- A.N., F.A. and N.M. Under the restraining orders, Dorsey is barred from any type of contact with the women for the next three years. A violation would be punishable with jail time. Dorse was convicted earlier this month of three misdemeanor counts of sexual battery.
He was arrested in January 2017 following a months-long investigation by Corona police. According to Detective Gail Gottfried, in October 2016, the defendant caught up with one of the women as she jogged in Santana Park, grabbing her buttocks, then fleeing to a nearby vehicle and speeding away. A few weeks later, Dorsey groped the two other victims, who were walking to their respective vehicles in the parking lot of a shopping mall, Gottfried said. In each instance, the defendant fled to a parked car and drove off immediately after the encounters. Based on witnesses' statements and security surveillance video images obtained from the locations, investigators were ultimately able to determine the identity of the perpetrator, who was arrested without incident at a Corona intersection.
He has no documented prior felony convictions.
