Town Hall Meeting On Homeless Housing In Venice Faces Strong Opposition

At last nights town hall meeting in Venice, Mayor Yoga Pants Garcetti and LAPD Cheif Moore struggled to speak on the proposed homeless bridge housing, due to residents continually shouting and interrupting their plans.

Voices from both sides of the debate were heard at Westminster Elementary School on Wednesday night. However, both Mayor Garcetti and Chief Moore are strong supporters of housing the homeless in Venice neighborhoods.

The proposal meeting was spent pitching a three-acre, 150-bed homeless bridge housing structure to be build in the middle of Venice. At the former MTA bus lot, to be exact.

"Politically, the easiest thing to do is walk away whenever there’s opposition anywhere in the town and people would say okay thank you for walking away, we can’t walk away from homelessness," Garcetti said at the meeting.

Residents in the crowd brought up their many concerns, including drug use, crime, and trash. But Chief Moore stood by the housing idea, stating that his officers can not arrest a homeless person until that person has 'turned down' available housing.
