A sit down meeting between rapper Kanye West and President Donald Trump demonstrated that even Trump can find himself being upstaged by someone.
West and former NFL star Jim Brown arrived at the White House Thursday to speak with the president on issues he felt were most important to the African-American community.
The rapper launched into a lengthy stream-of-consciousness, profanity-infused soliloquy that ranged in topics from racism in America, manufacturing, prison reform and gang violence.
West began by praising President Trump for dealing with North Korea saying, "On day one you solved one of [Obama's] biggest troubles. We solved one of the biggest problems."
The rapper also touched on his recent appearance on Saturday Night Live, claiming people there didn't want him to wear his "Make America Great Again" red hat.
"They tried to scare me to not wear this hat," West said. "When I put this hat on, it made me feel like Superman - my favorite superhero. You made a Superman cape for me."
He went on to slam SNL and other liberals in the media for how they portray the president in sketches and otherwise.
"What I need 'SNL' and liberals to improve on is, if he don't look good, we don't look good. He has to be the freshest, the flyest, have the flyest planes. He has to look good!" the rapper said. "When we make everything in China and not America, we’re cheating on our country."
West also talked about mental health issues in America, saying he had beendiagnosed as bipolar after another doctor told him he had merely been sleep-deprived.
"We can empower the pharmaceuticals and make more money," the rapper said at the meeting.
Kanye also talked about prison reform, the topic he had been scheduled to speak with the President about. West said many people have told him that stop-and-frisk policies like the Trump suggested Chicago consider last week, should be curbed and that the focus should be on love instead.
The president seemed to enjoy Kanye's soliloquy in the Oval Office, "I tell you what that was pretty impressive," Trump said. "That was quite something."
"It was from the soul. I just channeled it," West replied.
Reporters were given the chance to ask West a few questions, and they queried the rapper on a variety of topics from gun control to whether he was running in 2020.
West added he wouldn't consider running for president until at least 2024, voicing his strong support for President Trump.
"He might not expect to have a crazy motherf***r like Kanye West support him," West the people gathered in the Oval Office.
"I don't answer questions in simple soundbites. You are tasting a fine wine," West told reporters during his meeting with Trump. "It has complex notes to it."
The Chicago-born rapper has repeatedly expressed his support for President Trump, first sharing a photo of himself wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat earlier this year. He's also repeatedly praised the president on social media as well as during his recent appearance on Saturday Night Live.
