SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 50-year-old man who got into a fistfight in a Valencia Park-area neighborhood today became stricken and died of unknown causes a short time later. The altercation in the 5600 block of Imperial Avenue took place about 1 p.m., according to San Diego police.
After the fight ended, one of the two combatants told a bystander he was having chest pains, Lt. Anthony Dupree said.``The victim did not have any obvious signs of trauma to his body,'' Dupree said.
Paramedics took the man to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.``Out of an abundance of caution, the San Diego Police Department's Homicide Unit was called to the scene,'' Dupree said in the late afternoon. ``(Detectives) are currently investigating this incident as a suspicious death.''The dead man's name was withheld pending family notification.
