A new poll released Wednesday night from the Public Policy Institute of California shows Senator Dianne Feinstein leading in the race against state Senator Kevin de León.

Feinstein, a Democrat who earlier this year won the endorsement of the California Democratic Party’s executive board, had lost her lead in the race back in July, but now is said to be leading by 11 points.

“Senator Feinstein has been in Washington most of the time, really more focused on what her job is currently," Mark Baldassare, President and CEO of PPIC said. "But it’s important to keep in mind that while the lead, once very large, isn’t as large, it’s still double-digit."

The poll was conducted September 9-18 of this year, and it surveyed 1,710 California residents. The poll also included 964 "likely voters".

But the polling results also showed that the Gas Tax Proposition 6 is currently opposed by a "majority of the state's likely voters." Eight percent of those polled said that they were still undecided on the proposition.

The poll also surveyed the governor's race, and found Democratic Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom to be maintaining his lead. However, his lead over Republican John Cox has been cut in half since July.
