Suspect Shot Dead, Two Deputies Wounded At Shooting In East Los Angeles

EAST LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A suspect was killed and two deputies were wounded during a shooting today at a park in East Los Angeles.

The wounded deputies were in fair condition at LAC+USC Medical Center, KCAL9 reported.

Another suspect was wounded and taken to an area hospital, where his condition was unknown. It was unclear if he was wounded in the shooting at the park.

A third suspect was also arrested and authorities were searching the area for a fourth suspect, said Deputy Armando Viera Jr. of the Sheriff's Information Bureau.

The shooting occurred a little after 6:35 p.m. at Ruben F. Salazar Park, 3864 Whittier Blvd., according to a deputy at the Sheriff's Information Bureau.

The shooting occurred following a chase of a BMW, 

A helicopter went to the scene to search for a second suspect, according to media reports.

“Getting briefed on the deputy involved shooting,” Sheriff Jim McDonnell tweeted at 7:33 p.m. “Asking for prayers for our two deputies, their families. Heading to the hospital now. LASD”

McDonnell met with family members of the wounded deputies at LAC+USC Medical Center, according to Nicole Nishida, the public information officer for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
