Cameron J. Camp, Ph.D., grew up in Oklahoma City and Tyler, Texas and has his doctorate in experimental psychology.

After graduating with his degree in 1979, he began working with persons with dementia and eventually became the Professor of Psychology at the University of New Orleans. He later left teaching and began building the Montessori-Based Dementia Programming seminars that he also outlines in his books.

He's the author of many books, especially those that help people understand how memory loss affects the behaviors of our loved ones...

He's said to write with wit as well as compassion, and often goes against "conventional wisdom" in his approaches to caring for someone with dementia.

“We are not helpless in the face of Alzheimer’s disease and associated illnesses. We can best care for ourselves and our loved ones with dementia by embracing the humanity that exists, and has always existed, within each other.” (Cameron J. Camp, Ph.D., from the Author’s Preface to Hiding the Stranger in the Mirror).

Make sure you're listening to KFI tonight at 9 to hear Timmy chat with the author about the work he's doing to help those with, and affected by, the disorder.
