Eight new priests have been added to the list of those believed to have sexually assaulted young children, and this time it's in our own backyard.
The Diocese of San Diego named the Revs. Jose Chavarin, Raymond Etienne, J. Patrick Foley, Michael French, Richard Houck, George Lally and Paolino Montagna, and Msgr. Mark Medaer as those accused of molesting children.
“This is a response to the terrible moment we are in,” Bishop Robert McElroy said, citing the recent Pennsylvania grand jury report. “The cascade of emotions that this causes the survivors of the abuse, as well as other people in the pews, has caused a tumult of anger, grief, upset, incomprehension, disillusionment,” he said.
