Authorities Search for Offender Who Walked From Correctional Facility

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Authorities searched today for an offender who walked away from a California Department of Corrections facility in South Los Angeles.

About 5 p.m. Wednesday authorities launched an emergency search after being notified that Sandy Siders, 40, had run out of the Male Community Reentry Program facility and later removed his GPS device, according to Vicky Waters of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. The facility is located at 3745 South Grand Avenue.

Agents from the Department of Corrections were dispatched to locate and apprehend Siders, Waters said.

Siders is 6 feet tall and 200 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair. He was jailed in September 2016 for extortion by means of force or threat, she said.

He was transferred to the Los Angeles facility in May 2018 and was scheduled to be released on probation in April 2019, said Waters.

Anyone who sees Siders or has knowledge of his whereabouts was asked to call their local law enforcement or 911.
