Arcadia Elks To Host Luau To Pay For A Disabled Veteran's Service Dog!

A good time for a great cause!

The Arcadia Elks are hosting a luau this month in order to raise money to buy a service dog for a disabled veteran.

So far, they've raised about $10,000! But the group says they need about $8,000 more to be able to afford the dog as well as its training at Kamer Canine College in the Antelope Valley.

“Depending on the veteran’s needs, they pick a dog with a personality that would better meet their needs,” Diane Stoner, the Elks chairwoman said.

"The Elks are working with the Veterans Resource Center at Pasadena City College to identify student veterans who could benefit from a dog. They’re close to finalizing a recipient, but it all depends on whether the dog training school can get a canine that best meets her needs, which are psychological in nature," Stoner said.

The luau will be held at the Elks Lodge in Arcadia on September 29 at 4 p.m. Your ticket to the event also includes dinner, entertainment, as well as a chance to win some raffles!
