CalFire Says They Need At Least $234M More To Keep Fighting Fires

CalFire running low on funds

Brother can you spare a dime?

Officials with CalFire say the agency needs a cash infusion after spending more than $430 million bucks battling the dozens of wildfires that have burned up California over the last two months.

The director of CalFire, Ken Pimlott wrote in a letter to lawmakers on Thursday that the agency was down to its last $11 million dollars after climate change-driven extreme weather conditions have created intense and large fires across the state.

CalFire says they'll need at another $234 million dollars to make it through the middle of 2019. The money would be used for additional firefighters and helicopters.
