CORONA (CNS) - A 40-acre brush fire that broke out just northeast of Corona Municipal Airport was 90 percent contained today and expected to be completely under control by midnight.
The blaze, dubbed the ``Rincon Fire,'' was reported about 3:15 p.m. Monday in the area of Corydon and Rincon streets, according to the Corona Fire Department.
Crews from Corona, Riverside and Cal Fire worked throughout the night to encircle the brusher, with 26 engines staging at the height of the blaze, officials said. The brusher, which erupted in the same general area where an acre-wide fire was quickly knocked down Friday, prompted the closure of Auburndale Street from Palos Verde Drive to Rincon, as well as Greenbrier Avenue and Rincon from Corydon to Alcoa Circle.
The flames remained concentrated in open space west of Rincon, and evacuations were never necessary.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
