LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Some Long Beach (710) Freeway lanes and ramps will be closed this week in the Commerce, Vernon, and East Los Angeles areas as part of an ongoing improvement project.
The project involves road resurfacing and bridge widening on the 710 Freeway between Atlantic Boulevard and the Pomona (60) Freeway, according to Caltrans.
A full closure of the southbound 710 Freeway is scheduled overnight on Friday, Aug. 10, and on Saturday, Aug. 11. Also, Washington Boulevard in Commerce will be closed at the 710 Freeway weeknights this week between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m., according to Caltrans.
The closures for Monday through Friday will take place mostly between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. each day, as follows:
Northbound 710 Freeway:
-- Up to four lanes from Atlantic Boulevard to the Santa Ana (5) Freeway.
-- Atlantic Boulevard/Bandini Boulevard offramp.
-- Atlantic Boulevard onramp.
-- Washington Boulevard on- and offramps.
-- And northbound 710 Freeway to northbound 5 Freeway connector.
Southbound 710 Freeway:
-- Up to four lanes from 5 Freeway to Atlantic Boulevard.
-- Southbound 5 Freeway to southbound 710 Freeway connector, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
-- Washington Boulevard on- and offramps.
-- Atlantic Boulevard onramp.
-- And Atlantic Boulevard/Bandini Boulevard offramp.
Also, each weekday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the northbound Washington Boulevard on- and offramps will be closed, along with the southbound Washington Boulevard onramp.
Between 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 10, and 9 a.m. the following morning, up to four lanes of the northbound 710 Freeway will be closed between Atlantic Boulevard and the 5 Freeway. Some on- and offramps and connectors will be closed at varying times.
Between 11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, and 6 a.m. the following morning, there will be a full closure of the southbound 710 Freeway between Whittier/Olympic Boulevard and the 5 Freeway. Some on- and offramps and connectors will be closed at varying times.
Between 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, and 8 a.m. the following morning, up to four lanes of the northbound 710 Freeway will be closed from Atlantic Boulevard to the 5 Freeway. Some on- and offramps and connectors will be closed at varying times.
Between 11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, and 8 a.m. the following morning, there will be a full closure of the southbound 710 Freeway between Whittier Boulevard/Olympic Boulevard and the 5 Freeway. Some on- and offramps and connectors will be closed at varying times.
All closures are weather permitting and subject to change. The work is part of a $150.7-million project that covers 3.7 miles from Bell to East Los Angeles.
