At least 44 people were shot, 5 of them fatally, in Chicago on Sunday. Bureau of Patrol Chief Fred Waller said some of the incidents were targeted and gang-related. Police records show the youngest wounded person was 11 and the oldest was 62. In one of the shootings, suspects opened fire into a crowded street party. In just 3 hours starting at 1:30 in the morning, 30 people were shot and 2 were killed in 10 incidents. Despite the violence, Chicago police say shootings are down 30% from 2017 and murders are down 25%.
