Search Continues Into Third Day for Missing Man with Dementia in Palmdale

PALMDALE (CNS) - Sheriff's detectives were searching for a third day today for a 70-year-old man with dementia and other medical conditions, who went missing in Palmdale.

Epigmenio Reyes `Carlos' Mares was last seen about 2:30 p.m. Friday at his home in the 37800 block of Rudall Avenue, according to Deputy Marvin Crowder of the Sheriff's Information Bureau. In addition to dementia, Mares also has diabetes and high blood pressure, Crowder said.

Mares is Hispanic, 5 feet 5, 160 pounds with brown eyes and brown brushed-back hair. He was last seen wearing a blue plaid button-up shirt, black pants and black shoes.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts was urged to call the sheriff's Missing Persons Unit at (323) 890-5500 to speak with Sergeant Nava or Detective Abraham or call 911. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
