COMPTON (CNS) - Detectives today released images of a man who robbed an am/pm store in Compton at gunpoint, threatening at one point to put a bullet in the head of a clerk who tried to calm him.
The man entered the store about 1:30 p.m. Saturday at 2810 East Alondra Boulevard ``and demanded cash from the register at gunpoint,'' according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department statement.
``The victims were unable to hear the suspect's demands, at which time the suspect uncovered his face and repeated the demand,'' according to the sheriff's department.
``The male clerk told the suspect to relax because there were customers in line and a female clerk present. The suspect responded by pointing a handgun at the clerk and stated, `I'll put a bullet in your head.'''The clerks then handed over money from the store's registers and the suspect left in a gray, newer-model, mid-size SUV with black rims, possibly an Audi or Infiniti, that was driven by a second suspect.
The suspect who entered the store was described as black, 25-30 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall, about 150 pounds, with brown eyes, black hair and a chin beard. He wore a black cap, gray hoodie and sweatpants and black Converse Chuck Taylor sneakers.
Anyone who may have witnessed the robbery, recognizes the suspect or has any information about the crime was urged to call the Compton Sheriff's Station at (310) 605-6500 to speak with Detective Schneider.
