The man suspected of starting the Cranston Fire, which has destroyed eight homes and has burned 4,700 acres near Idyllwild was arrested Wednesday afternoon.
Brandon N. McGlover, 32, of Temecula was transported to Cois Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta and was booked on 5 counts of felony arson charges.
McGlover, who was cited twice for driving infractions in the past year, was caught after CAL FIRE investigators "determined a suspect description and issued a crime bulletin to other local law enforcement agencies." Where based on the crime bulletin issued, "the Hemet/San Jacinto Valley Gang Task Force located and detained McGlover," according to a U.S. Forest Service-San Bernardino National Forest news release.
One resident told KNBC-TV, "We were all peeling out of there as fast as we could, it was apocalyptic."
McGlover remains in jail with a bail of $1 million.
