Irvine Man Arrested For Allegedly Making Bomb Threats

IRVINE (CNS) - A 39-year-old Irvine man was arrested today for allegedly making multiple bomb threats against Orange County jail facilities.

Pejman Zanjani allegedly called the Orange County Sheriff's Department's dispatch center at 11:25 p.m. Wednesday and made at least two bomb- related threats against OCSD facilities in the 11-minute call, sheriff's spokeswoman Carrie Braun said.

An investigation followed that phone call and the sheriff's hazardous devises squad went to all jail facilities and conducted exterior searches using dogs.

Another call was allegedly made by Zanjani on Saturday at 1 a.m. to the OCSD dispatch center who reportedly made a second bomb threat towards the dispatch center. It was during this call that Zanjani was identified by the dispatch center. A search and arrest warrant was then obtained by the sheriff's department.

Zanjani was arrested by sheriff's detectives around 7 a.m. Monday. A search was made of his residence which was determined to be safe, Braun said.

Zanjani was booked for making criminal threats and was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday, Braun said.
