GARDEN GROVE (CNS) - Three teenage boys trying to cross a street in Garden Grove suffered major injuries today when they were struck by an SUV whose driver ran a red light, police said. The boys were conscious and breathing when they were taken to a hospital, Garden Grove police Lt. Carl Whitney said.
The accident occurred at 5:55 p.m. when the boys were in a crosswalk on Westminster Street near Kerry Street, Whitney said. The man driving the SUV remained at the scene as required by law and was cooperating with police, Whitney said. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash, Whitney said. The intersection was closed for nearly two hours to allow police to investigate.
Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call the Garden Grove Police Department at (714) 741-5823.
