A man accused of attacking his wife with a chainsaw in Whittier is behind bars authorities said Thursday.
Alejandro Alvarez was arrested this afternoon in Chula Vista while still in possession of a stolen vehicle he took after the attack. Whittier Police, working with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department and the Chula Vista Police Department apprehended the 32-year-old around 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
Police began looking for Alvarez after they responded to a report of an attempted murder in the 7700 block of Milton Ave Wednesday afternoon, where they found Alvarez's wife seriously injured. She was taken to the hospital and is reportedly in stable condition after having surgery last night.
The couple had three young children and were reportedly unharmed in the attack, but two of them were found covered in blood following the incident.
