Six years ago, Emmanuel Gatewood was getting ready to start his senior year at Lakewood High School.
One night, he was hanging out with friends after a party, waiting for his sister to pick him up, when suddenly someone ran up, shot Emmanuel and ran away.
His family says neither Emmanuel or his friends were in a gang.
The L.A. County Sheriff's Department believes that Emmanuel's death was a case being in the wrong place at the wrong time and that Emmanuel was likely mistaken for someone else.
Despite it being a big party with a lot of witnesses, there have been no significant clues in the case to lead police to a suspect, so six years later, the case remains unsolved.
But, that hasn't stopped Emmanuel's family from asking for help.
If you have any information about Emmanuel Gatewood's death, please contact the L.A. County Sheriff's Department.
Sheriff Jim McDonnell joined Mark Thompson tonight to talk about the case. They need your help!
