Coroner Investigates Death of Carrier Found in Mail Truck Amid Heat Wave

WOODLAND HILLS (CNS) - An investigation was underway today into the death of a 63-year-old U.S. Postal Service carrier who was found inside her truck amid soaring temperatures in Woodland Hills.

Peggy Frank of North Hills was found unresponsive Friday in the 4800 block of Calderon Road and was pronounced dead about 3:30 p.m., Los Angeles County coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter told the Los Angeles Daily News.

Frank had prior health issues and it was unclear if her death was related to temperatures that hit a record 117 degrees in the area, according to the Daily News.

The coroner's office has conducted an autopsy but was awaiting the results of additional tests before making a final determination as to Frank's cause of death, Winter told the newspaper.
