Woman Sues LAFD, Paramedic Over Alleged Assault

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A woman is suing the city of Los Angeles and a firefighter paramedic, alleging he sexually molested her while she was being transported to a hospital after being injured in a traffic accident in 2017.

The plaintiff is identified only as Lacy R. in the Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit , which names as defendants the city, the LAFD and paramedic German Mejia.

Lacy R. alleges sexual battery, false imprisonment, negligence and civil rights violations. She seeks unspecified damages.

A representative for the City Attorney's Office said he had not seen the lawsuit filed Tuesday and had no immediate comment.

David Ring, one of the plaintiff's lawyers, said no criminal charges have been filed against Mejia.

The plaintiff was a passenger in a car involved in a traffic crash on July 9, 2017. Mejia was dispatched to the scene and was in uniform when he allegedly sexually assaulted her in the rear of an ambulance en route to a hospital, the lawsuit alleges.

The woman reported the alleged attack to the city the next day, according to her complaint.
