The Los Angeles Police Department has responded to a viral video of officers arresting a seemingly unarmed and peaceful black woman.
Cell phone footage of the incident showed the woman being pulled over on the side of the road in a neighborhood near Inglewood. The woman stands with her hands over her head with several officers behind her in patrol vehicles with their guns drawn, while bystanders look on in shock.
The LAPD took the unusual step of tweeting about the video that had been making waves online, explaining the situation and the seemingly heavy-handed response.
