Authorities Identify Man Found Dead in Vehicle in Compton

COMPTON (CNS) - Authorities today identified a man who was found dead in a parked vehicle in Compton.

 Deputies were sent to the 15200 block of South Gibson Avenue about 11:20 a.m. Thursday, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Information Bureau.

 The man was identified as Samuel Stewart, 45, of Los Angeles, the coroner's office reported. An autopsy was pending to determine his cause of death.

 ``Deputies were conducting a patrol check in the area when they found a vehicle illegally parked along the dirt turn-out on the street,” according to a sheriff's department statement. ``They saw what appeared to be a male black adult sleeping in the back cargo area of the vehicle. The man was unresponsive to their attempts to wake him.”

 Stewart apparently had suffered trauma to his head. Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500, or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
