Garcetti Set to Speak at Boston Mayors Climate Summit

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti is scheduled to speak at the International Mayors Climate Summit Thursday in Boston, which comes six days after the first anniversary of President Donald Trump announcing that the U.S. would be withdrawing from the Paris Climate Accord.

Garcetti is set to speak at the Climate Mayors Panel, along with Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and Knoxville, Tennessee, Mayor Madeline Rogero. Garcetti is also to field questions at the summit's concluding news conference with Walsh, Edmonton, Alberta Mayor Don Iveson and Rochester, New York, Mayor Lovely Warren.

Former Secretary of State John Kerry is also scheduled to speak at the summit at Boston University.

``Whether the topic is resiliency, emergency preparedness, the challenges of concentrated populations or the carbon footprint of urban industries -- the role of cities in addressing climate change is one of the most important discussions of our time,'' Kerry said.
