Kate Spade Dead at Age 55

Iconic fashion designer Kate Spade has died. The 55-year-old was found inside her NYC apartment on Tuesday, June 5, TMZ reports.

According to the site, Kate was in her home on Park Avenue and “there are reports it was suicide” although an official cause of death has yet to be determined.

The fashion designer launched her company with David Spade’s brother Andy in 1993, beginning with just handbags before the brand expanded into a clothing and jewelry line.  Kate and Andy tied the knot a year later in 1994.

In 2007, Kate sold the company to focus on raising their daughter, Frances Beatrix Spade, now 13. She launched a new line called Frances Valentine in 2016.

According to CBS News, Kate reportedly left a note before hanging herself and was found by her housekeeper.

Updates to come.
