Dozens of Celebrities Owe California Big Bucks in Back Taxes

Celebrities owe big bucks to the state of California

Celebrities, they're just like us!

According to a new list of the top 500 tax delinquent taxpayers published by the California Franchise Tax Board, dozens of celebrities owe the Golden State some big money in back taxes.

The list includes notable names like Tori Spelling, Chris Tucker, and director Nick Cassavetes. One of the producers of the new Jumanji movie reportedly owes the state more than $20 million.

This isn't the first time for many of the celebrities on the list. Reality-TV star Tori Spelling has been in financial trouble since her father, television producer Aaron Spelling passed away back in 2006. At the time, she stood to inherit a large portion of her father's estimated $600 million estate, but instead, only received around $800,000 from her estranged mother who was made the executor of the estate.

Tori and her husband Dean McDermott, who have five children, owe California $282,685 in back taxes.

Comedian Chris Tucker probably isn't laughing the hefty $1.2 million tax bill he owes to California. It's also not the first time the comedian has gotten into trouble with the taxman before. A $2.5 million lien was placed on Tucker's Georgia home four years ago over unpaid taxes which he blamed on "poor accounting and business management."

Singer Macy Gray also manages to make the list after owing more than $240,000 in taxes to California.

Ted Field, a producer on the wildly successful Jumanji reboot, and whose family once owned the Chicago Sun-Times, owes an incredible $20,196,486.00 to California. Field, who was once named by Forbes as one of the 400 richest people on the planet, was indicted last year on fraud charges relating to a loan he was soliciting for a remake of Kickboxer, a 1989 film starring Jean-Claude Van Damme.

Other celebs that made the list include The Notebook director Nick Cassavetes who owes $252,950, actor/rapper Xzibit, who owes $231,579 and ousted Weinstein Co. President and CEO, David Glasser who owes more than $240,000 in taxes.
