#TechTalk: Improving Your Uber & Lyft Passenger Rating

Uber & Lyft

If you're an Uber/Lyft driver, you know how important it is to have a high rating.

But, did you know it's important to have a high rating as a passenger?

Why?  It's not because they're going to kick you out of the service, as that only occurs because of specific incidents (which I imagine could mean you'd have a low rating to begin with...).

You don't want a low rating because fewer drivers will want to pick you up.  And, I'd imagine, those that want to pick you up would probably be the less desirable drivers.

So, sit down, take a second, and learn how to get that rating up!

First, check out your rating.

For Uber, open the app, touch the menu icon, and read the number under your name.  That easy.

For Lyft, you must either ask your driver, or contact the company through the app or via email.

Now it's time to bring that number up!

  1. Don't be late - Start the trip on a good note and be on time.  Don't bring your rating down before you even get started.
  2. Be nice - It isn't your car and it isn't your space, so remember that.  Have appropriate conversations and don't leave a mess in the vehicle.
  3. Play by the rules - Wear your seat belt.  No alcohol.  No smoking.  Don't ask the driver to speed.  Don't threaten the driver with a low rating.  It's pretty simple, don't be an apple.
  4. Just tip them - Even if it isn't a lot, the driver will notice and appreciate it.

It might take a few rides, but you can get it up and it will be good for you in the long run, I promise!
