On Thursday (May 24), news broke that award-winning actor Morgan Freeman was being accused of sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior by several women who've worked closely with him.
CNN conducted an investigation where 16 people spoke about the star. One production assistant said that when she worked with Freeman in 2015, he often made comments about her body and clothes, and also touched her inappropriately. The woman also said that the actor tried lifting up her skirt once and asked her about her underwear. However, Alan Arkin told Freeman to stop. "Morgan got freaked out and didn't know what to say," CNN claims.
Another woman added that Freeman made comments about her and her assistant's physical appearances. "He did comment on our bodies... We knew that if he was coming by ... not to wear any top that would show our breasts, not to wear anything that would show our bottoms, meaning not wearing clothes that [were] fitted," she said.
In total, 16 people spoke about Freeman. CNN reached out to the actor for a statement about these accusations, but didn't get a reply. However, the actor issued one to Sky News. "Anyone who knows me or has worked with me knows I am not someone who would intentionally offend or knowingly make anyone feel uneasy," Freeman said. "I apologise to anyone who felt uncomfortable or disrespected – that was never my intent.”
