Violin Teacher Accused of Molesting Girl From 8-Years Old

Peter Kwon, a violin teacher, was arrested on suspicion of molesting a student.

IRVINE (CNS) - A 32-year-old violin teacher was arrested today in Irvine on suspicion of molesting an 8-year-old student under his tutelage and police believe there is at least one other victim.

Peter Kwon was taken into custody about 11:55 a.m. outside his home, according to Irvine Police Department Public Information Officer Kim Mohr.

Investigators allege the felony sexual misconduct took place between 2005 and 2007, beginning when the girl was 8, Mohr said.

``At the time of the crimes, Kwon taught violin lessons out of his home,'' according to Mohr, who said the girl ``came forward to Irvine police detectives last month and an investigation was initiated.''Kwon teaches under the business name ``Peter Kwon's String Studio'' and also teaches at Vienna Music Institute in Irvine and the Orange County School of the Arts in Santa Ana, Mohr said.

Kwon was booked on suspicion of committing lewd acts with a child under the age of 14 and digital penetration of a child under the age of 10, according to Mohr, who said investigators believe there is at least one other victim.
