Car Crashes Into Building, Killing 1, Possible Explosion Reported

A vehicle that crashed into a medical building in Aliso Viejo has killed one person and injured at least two others in a possible explosion authorities said on Tuesday.

Crews battled a fire that erupted in the building, quickly extinguishing the blaze.

According to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Tony Bommarito, hazardous materials officials as well investigators from the bomb squad are at the scene and planning on "how to enter" the building. FBI agents are also en route to the scene.

Officials say they're still working on what happened. It was initially reported that a car had crashed into the building, but Bommarito said it's not clear that's the case.

``There appears to be an explosion in the building, but we can't  confirm there's a vehicle in the building,'' Bommarito said.

A full street closure of Pacific Park heading eastbound to Aliso Plaza was ordered, along with a closure of Pacific Park westbound, due to the investigation.
