Delta Flight Evacuated When Smoked Filled Cabin

Passengers on a Delta Air Lines flight were forced to evacuate the plane while it was taxiing to the gate after landing at Denver International Airport when the cabin started to fill with smoke. Firefighters met Delta Flight 1854 on the tarmac and helped 153 people escape the MD-90 using the inflatable slides and emergency exits on the wings.

The plane, which originated in Detroit, Michigan, had no issues while in the air and people onboard said the landing itself was routine. Airport officials said that only minor injuries were reported.

Video footage from inside the plane shows the hazy smoke filling the cabin as passengers yell "let us out" to flight attendants who tell them to put their heads down.

Here is the first part of the video where you can hear people yelling on the Delta flight evacuated tonight at DIA.

Rachel Naftel posted photos of people evacuating onto the tarmac on Twitter and said that she felt "faint and sick" adding that the last person taken off the plane was a baby.

Scariest thing. After landing fumes through the vents and fire. Feeling faint and sick. Baby was last one out!!! Emergency evacuation. Scariest thing ever. Delta.   @Delta @DeltaNewsHub

Delta issued a statement apologizing for the incident:

After arrival in Denver and during taxi to the gate, Delta flight 1854 from Detroit to Denver stopped on a taxiway where customers deplaned via slides and over-wing exits due to an observance of smoke in the cabin. Airport response vehicles met the aircraft out of an abundance of caution and customers were transported to the terminal via buses. The safety of Delta’s customers and crew is our top priority and we apologize for the concern this situation has caused.
