Man Hospitalized After Livestreaming Crash Into Big Rig

Getting likes or new subscribers really shouldn't be your priority when you're cruising around Southern California livestreaming to the world, otherwise, you may end up in the hospital. One YouTuber LameDuckG, learned that lesson for himself after he had to be airlifted to the hospital last week after running into a tractor trailer in Llano, California while livestreaming to his followers.

David Slavitt, 32, was vlogging, or video blogging live to his YouTube account and more than 1,500 subscribers to his channel when he got into the accident.

"I'm streaming just to, like, make the drive less boring," he told his subscribers.

Slavitt was talking about the 'boring drive' to his followers while driving his Honda Fit down Avenue T approaching 165th street in Llano, California. At the same time, a 58-year-old truck driver named Elias Orozco, was approaching a three way intersection in his tractor-trailer.

Slavitt apparently failed to yield at a stop sign crossing directly into the big rig's path. During the livestream, the YouTuber is talking about where he plans to stop for lunch when he stops, emitting a scream of terror.

The truck driver says he attempted to swerve the big rig out of the way to avoid colliding with the vlogger, but the truck hit Slavitt's door on the side according to the California Highway Patrol.

Slavitt was airlifted to Apple Valley Hospital with blunt force trauma. Officials say the YouTuber's injuries are moderate to major and that his distracted driving could have caused the crash.
