Suspected Naked Gunman Captured

HACIENDA HEIGHTS (CNS) - A suspected gunman who barricaded himself this afternoon at a Hacienda Heights home, where he climbed out a window and took off his clothes, was taken into custody by a SWAT team after a police dog was sent onto the roof.

The suspect, said to be armed with a handgun, barricaded himself about 2 p.m. in the 16600 block of Carriage Place, not far from the intersection of Colima and Halliburton roads, according to Deputy Sara Rodriguez of the Sheriff's Information Bureau.

Some neighboring homes were evacuated as a precaution, and streets surrounding the location were closed to traffic, Rodriguez said.

The unidentified man appeared several times on the roof of the home, where he appeared to take photos with his cell phone and at one point took off his shirt and shorts, according to the sheriff's department.

The sheriff's Crisis Negotiation Team went to the scene to bring the standoff to a peaceful conclusion. Around 4:15 p.m., Sheriff's Special Enforcement Bureau officers wearing tactical gear placed a ladder against the home and the man decided to climb down when a K-9 was sent onto the roof
