LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A wind advisory remained in force this morning in the San Gabriel Mountains and the Antelope Valley but was scheduled to expire before dawn.
A wind advisory expired late Monday night in Los Angeles and the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys, and the one in effect in the San Gabriels and Antelope Valley is due to expire at 5 a.m.
The National Weather Service reported late Monday that the Southland experienced powerful wind gusts in the previous 24 hours, including 56 miles per hour at Mill Creek in the San Gabriel Mountains, 54 mph at Lake Palmdale in the Antelope Valley, 47 mph in Grenada Hills in the San Fernando Valley, 39 mph at Newhall Pass in the Santa Clarita Valley, and 36 mph in the Malibu Hills in the Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Area.
The NWS forecast sunny skies in L.A. County today and highs of 59 on Mount Wilson; 64 in Avalon; 65 in Palmdale and Lancaster; 66 at LAX; 68 in Saugus; 71 in San Gabriel and Downtown L.A.; and 72 in Long Beach, Pasadena, Burbank and Woodland Hills.
Sunny skies were also forecast in Orange County today, along with highs of 63 in San Clemente and Laguna Beach; 65 in Newport Beach; 70 in Irvine and Mission Viejo; 73 in Yorba Linda and Anaheim; and 74 in Fullerton.
Conditions will be about the same Wednesday, but temperatures will decline Thursday amid showers in most communities.
