Where Is The Thottapilly Family?

Police in Nothern California are investigating a report about a car that a witness says went over a 100-ft embankment in Humboldt County to see if it is possibly related to a missing family from Valencia.

The Thottapilly family: Sandeep, 42, Soumya, 38, Siddhant, 12 and Saachi, 9 went missing after their relatives says they lost contact with them while they were on a road trip from Valencia to Portland and back.  They were driving the family's maroon Honda Pilot SUV.

According to the relatives, the family left on their trip on March 30th, and had a scheduled stop last Thursday in San Jose to visit extended family, but they never arrived.

Their last known location is believed to be near Klamath in the Redwood National Park area.

On Friday, a witness called 911 saying they saw a car go over an embankment off Highway 101.

According to ABC7, the Eel River runs parallel to the highway there:

"CHP Public Information Officer William Wunderlich from the Garberville office said there are similarities between that vehicle and the family's car, including the color.

Wunderlich notes that it was raining on Friday and no one has seen the car since that time. Right now, he says the river is running high, swift and cold.  He does not think the level will go down for another couple of days but adds that they will not stop searching until there is a break in the case."

If you have any information about the Thottapilly family please call your local police or dial 813-616-3091.
