California’s Attorney General Challenging Border Wall

Xavier Becerra files to appeal President Trumps Border wall

California’s Attorney General has found a new way to challenge the border wall.

This appeal is on environmental and public health laws. Xavier Becerra says President Trump's wall would break those existing laws. He's trying to get the appeal before the 9th Circuit Court. Becerra says the idea of a wall is medieval and doesn't belong in the 21st century.

"When we said that a medieval wall along the U.S.-Mexico border does not belong in the 21st century, we meant it. There are environmental and public health laws in place, and we continue to believe that the Trump Administration is violating those laws. We will not stand idly by. We are committed to protecting our people, our values and our economy from federal overreach."

A federal judge in San Diego has already ruled that the administration can go ahead with the wall. The Center for Biological Diversity, an environmental group, is also appealing that decision.

According to the LA Times, the group and Xavier Becerra both have filed formal notices of appeal Monday hoping to reverse the San Diego judges decision.
