LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The Los Angeles Dodgers will play at Dodger Stadium for the first time in 2018 tonight, facing the Los Angeles Angels in Game 2 of the three-game Freeway Series.
Changes at Dodger Stadium include a new Field Level seating option and the designation of a seat commemorating Kirk Gibson's home run in Game 1 of the 1988 World Series.
The Field Drink Rail Seats will include a table top and barstool seating at the top row of sections 1-13. The view from these seats may be restricted at times by fans in front of the seats.
Seat 1 on Row D in Section 302, in the area of the Right Field Pavilion where Gibson's pinch-hit game-winning home run landed, will be painted blue and adorned with Gibson's painted signature, as well as a historical marker.
Tickets for the ``Kirk Gibson Seat'' and a companion seat must be purchased as a pair at Dodgers.com/Gibson. The tickets cost $300, with $200 donated to the Kirk Gibson Foundation to raise money and awareness for research into Parkinson's disease. Gibson was diagnosed with the degenerative disease in 2015.
The purchasers will also receive two commemorative T-shirts.
The Kirk Gibson Seat is the first seat at Dodger Stadium to be marked in tribute to a historic event.
New food items at Dodger Stadium include carne asada, pulled chicken and vegetarian tortas, a sandwich on a white roll that includes refried beans, jalapenos, cilantro, crema and pickled onions. They will be available at the LA On Deck Circle located on the Field Level at Aisle 48, the Loge Level at Aisle 133 and the Reserve level at Aisle 4.
U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Juan Castillo of San Marcos will be honored today as the Military Hero of the Game. Castillo joined the Army in 2000 and has served multiple tours in Iraq as an artilleryman in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Castillo is now a guidance counselor for the U.S. Army Recruiting Command, with his main duty ensuring the proper enlistment of men and women joining the Army.
The Dodgers won Game 1 of the series, 4-2, Sunday at Angel Stadium. The Freeway Series will conclude Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers will open the regular season Thursday against the San Francisco Giants at Dodger Stadium.
