LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose today to its highest amount since Sept. 2, 2015, increasing 1 cent to $3.527.
The average price has risen 18 consecutive days, increasing 10.5 cents, including 1.1 cents on Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price is 5.1 cents more than one week ago, 10.5 cents higher than one month ago and 50.9 cents greater than one year ago. It has risen 37.7 cents since the start of the year.
The Orange County average price rose today to its highest amount since Sept. 3, 2015, increasing nine-tenths of a cent to $3.491. It has risen 15 of the past 17 days, increasing 10.9 cents, including 1.3 cents on Thursday.
The Orange County average price is 5.4 cents more than one week ago, 10.4 cents higher than one month ago and 48.9 cents greater than one year ago. It has risen 37.5 cents since the start of the year.
``Oil industry analysts point to Southern California gasoline inventories that are now slightly under their average levels of the past five years, likely due to planned maintenance at refineries in Carson and El Segundo that has reduced production,'' said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.
``However, those refineries are expected to be up and running at full capacity soon, which should increase supply.''
