LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The greater Los Angeles area will get a respite from the rain today, but keep those umbrellas handy. There's more to come.
A cooler, wetter than normal weather pattern is due in the area by late Monday and is expected to stick around for much of the week, according to the National Weather Service.
On Saturday, a low pressure system off-shore brought light to moderate rain to the Southland. That system deposited between 1/4 to 1/2 inch of rain in the coastal to valley areas, NWS Meteorologist Todd Hall said.
``We're watching rainfall off-shore where the cold front is located and there is more unstable air on the backside,'' Hall said Saturday. ``That could mean more moderate to locally heavy rain later in the evening.''
Temperatures today should be in the upper 50s to low 60s, Hall said.
The incoming storm is expected to bring 1/2 to one inch of rain between Monday evening and early Tuesday, he said.
A colder storm at the end of the week could deliver another 1/2 to one inch of rain, Hall said.
``It is certainly going to make a dent'' in the rainfall deficit this season, he said. And light to moderate rain is better than heavy rainfall because it can soak into the soil.
