Two Pomona Officers Shot And Wounded

POMONA (CNS) - Investigators remained on the scene early this morning in Pomona where two officers were shot and wounded while responding to a possible barricaded suspect.

Sheriff's officials said they are assisting Pomona police in the shooting investigation.

The shooting was reported at 9:10 p.m. Friday in the 1400 block of South Palomares Street, said Deputy Trina Schrader.

At least one officer was rushed to a hospital, according to reports from the scene. The conditions of the wounded officers were not immediately available.

Pomona police Chief Michael Olivieri tweeted late Friday night that two officers had been shot and the scene was still active. SWAT also had been summoned to the scene, according to Olivieri.

There were no details available about the barricade situation or whether the suspected shooter was in custody.
