State Senator Asked to Stop Hugging at Work – Shouldn't We All?

Senator Bob Hertzberg (D-Van Nuys) earned the nicknames 'Hugsberg' and 'Huggy Bear' because he was a big fan of hugging in the workplace. The hugs were so prevalent that it landed him under investigation by the Senate Rules Committee. The committee found that while his hugs weren't intended to be sexual and were often welcomed, that the time has come for him to stop hugging.

It was announced on Thursday through Hertzberg's official twitter page and he issued an apology:

“All my life, a hug has been my way of greeting friends and colleagues — a gesture of warmth and kindness and a reflection of my exuberance,” the letter says. “I understand that I cannot control how a hug is received, and that no everyone has the ability to speak up about unwelcome behavior. It is my responsibility to be mindful of this.”
