3.8 Magnitude Earthquake Jolts Riverside

ANZA (CNS) - A magnitude-3.8 earthquake with an epicenter about 11 miles east-southeast of Anza struck this morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries from the quake, which was recorded at 10:44 a.m., according to a computer-generated report from the USGS.

Residents from across the Coachella Valley and parts of San Diego County reported feeling the temblor on the USGS ``Did You Feel It?'' website. More than 70 people reported feeling the quake in La Quinta, while a high number of responses were also recorded in Palm Desert, Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage and Indio.

Responses were also recorded from as far away as San Diego and La Jolla.

The quake was the second to hit eastern Riverside County on Monday, with a magnitude-2.7 quake recorded at 12:19 a.m. about four miles northeast of the Salton Sea community of North Shore.
