SWAT Team Surrounds Peninsula Hotel

A SWAT team surrounded the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills Thursday morning following reports of a "disturbance," but officials say a 911 call to police turned out to be bogus.

Beverly Hills Police say they received a call shortly before 6 a.m. about a "disturbance" at the hotel in the 9800 block of Santa Monica Boulevard. A SWAT team was called out in an abundance of caution after police were told there was a barricaded person on scene. No shots were fired in the incident.

Traffic was briefly backed up while authorities investigated the incident.
