Growing Ranks Of Independent Voters May Surpass California Republicans

Independent voters may soon outnumber Republicans in California.  That's due to a steady decline in registered GOP voters over the last couple of decades, combined with a steady upswing in younger voters registering with "no party preference."  While Democrats have held steady at 45-percent the last two decades, Republicans have slid ten points to just over 25-percent.

That's just a fraction of a percent more than independents.  Political Date, Inc. Vice President Paul Mitchell tells the "Los Angeles Times" that at this rate, California could have more independent voters than Republicans by the November election.
