COMPTON (CNS) - A man was being questioned today in the death of a woman who was found naked and unresponsive in a gutter in front of a motorhome in an unincorporated area between Compton and Gardena.

The man, who was seen by a witness dragging the woman's body to that location, was an occupant of the motorhome, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The woman's death was reported at 9:17 p.m. Thursday in the 14300 block of South Main Street, just south of Rosecrans Avenue, said Deputy Trina Schrader. She was discovered by another woman walking on the sidewalk.

The victim was lying face down in the gutter, naked and unresponsive, authorities said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body was in front of a motorhome parked along the curb. Deputies contacted the occupant of the motorhome, a 55-year-old man, and were able to determine that the victim had been with him prior to her body being discovered, Schrader said.

Authorities also determined the man had placed her there, according to Schrader.

The man was detained and is being questioned by investigators, who are trying to determine how the woman died and if he is responsible, Schrader said.
