Three Temperature Records set in Los Angeles County

Los Angeles March Heat Wave Shatters Records

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Moderate Santa Ana winds and strong high pressure aloft brought temperature records to Long Beach, UCLA and Los Angeles International Airport today, according to the National Weather Service.

The temperature reached 91 degrees at Long Beach, breaking the previous record for Jan. 29 of 83, set in 1992, according to the National Weather Service. The high at UCLA was 89, breaking the previous high of 85 set in 1971. The high at Los Angeles International Airport was also 89, bread king the record of 83 set in 1962.

Monday's other highs in Los Angeles County included 89 in Hawthorne, 88 at Santa Monica Airport, 86 in downtown Los Angeles, Pasadena, Pomona and Culver City, 85 in Redondo Beach and Torrance, 83 in Van Nuys and 82 in Woodland Hills.

A red flag warning signifying a high risk of wildfire in the San Gabriel Mountains, Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Area, Angeles National Forest and Santa Clarita and San Fernando valleys expired at 3 p.m.
