Study Says Dog Owners Would Rather be With Pets than with People

A new study says more than half of all dog owners in the US say they don't attend social events with friends in favor of spending time with their furry friends.

The research conducted by Link AKC, the creators of a smart collar for dogs, looked at 2,000 dog owners who say skipping out on hangouts with humans to get some quality pet time is totally common.

The study says dogs provide stress relief and get their owners through at least 5 stressful events a week.

Four in ten owners say their pet got them through the loss of a loved one and another 20 percent say their dog got them through a difficult breakup.

More than half say seeing their four legged friend when they come home makes them extremely happy and 88 percent said their pet made them better people.
